Building a Legacy of Leadership: Zachary Casas and Pond to Purpose

Zachary Casas is a senior at Hargrave High School, student leader, and 2025 - 2026 Texas FFA Ford Leadership Scholar. A proud member of the Huffman FFA Chapter, Zach has built his high school career on service, leadership, and a passion for agriculture.

In May of 2025, Zach was selected as 1 of 10 Texas FFA Members to be named a Ford Leadership Scholar. This program, supported by the Texas FFA Association, Texas FFA Foundation, and Ford Motor Company, equips students with the skills and resources to design and carry out a substantial and sustainable community service project.

Zach's project, Pond to Purpose, focuses on transforming the Falcon Ridge Elementary School pond into a purposeful outdoor learning and wellness space. Designed to benefit both students and the Huffman community, this project embodies Zach's belief that leadership is about serving others and leaving a lasting legacy.

Beyond serving as a Ford Leadership Scholar, Zach is heavily involved in the FFA, showing various species of livestock, serving as the Huffman FFA President, and being an Area III FFA Association Vice President. He also serves as the Hargrave High School Class of 2026 President and is a licensed Private Pilot.

After high school, Zach hopes to attend Texas A&M University and major in biochemistry. He then wants to attend Baylor College of Medicine and obtain an MD+ degree. His commitment to agriculture and service is matched by his long-term career goal of becoming a cardiologist and opening his own medical practice, a path that combines his scientific interests with his passion for helping others. Throughout this journey, Zach is grateful for the encouragement and support of his family, who inspire him to keep pursuing his goals.
